Docker Cookbook Solutions and Examples for Building Distributed Applications Sébastien Goasguen Books Reviews

  • Starts with simple examples and works up to complex networking and clustering.
    Its perfect for a newbie.
If you already know some basic Docker, this is probably not for you.
  • A good book for beginners level. It has no info on Docker QuickStart. Otherwise a good read.
  • Easy to read and to understand
  • This is an excellent reference. The "cookbook" style makes it useful for referring back to. But the recipes are in a nice sequential order, so you can use it as a learning tool (as I have).
  • Recipes are not well organized, jumps around multiple topics in each recipe. Has a lot of detailed information but should not have been published as a "cookbook". The whole purpose of a cookbook is to have concise instructions relevant to mainly a specific task the user is trying to accomplish, this book fails at that. The answers are not targeted enough on each specific tasks to allow you to quickly find solutions, which is the whole purpose of a cookbook.
  • Mr. Goasguen has put together a great guide for folks trying to quickly get up-to-speed in the container world with Docker.
